Glass tapestries : plateau beaded bags from the Elaine Horwitch Collection.

Glass Tapestry is an exhibition with two interwoven strands. One strand celebrates the late Elaine Horwitch, art lover and gallery owner extraordinaire. Her untimely loss is mourned by an international circle of admirers ... by exhibiting her unsurpassed personal collection of Columbia Plateau tribal beaded flat bags. The Heard Museum is honored to share one of Elaine's great enthusiasms with a wider audience in a way that also expresses our lasting affection and respect. The second strand of this exhibition has to do with the Native artists who made the beaded bags that Elaine collected. Their cultural heritage of the Columbia Plateau region of eastern Washington State, Oregon, and Idaho, has not been known by people in other parts of the United States as fully as it deserves to be--from the exhibition catalogue.

2 linear feet; photographs, exhibition ephemera, catalogue.
